by | Jan 23, 2017 | Music (general), Open Labs, Open Labs Artists, Stagelight

The first inaugural Stagelight AutoRap Competition has come to a thrilling conclusion. Hundreds of hip hop song submissions poured in over the last two months from producers across the globe. Each beat maker competed in a winner-takes-all battle for a chance to Go Viral! Over the last few weeks we dug into every single track, searching for the best hip hop instrumentals. Deciding on the top five wasn’t an easy task but thanks to the help from our partners at Smule, we have arrived to the competition results. Let’s jump right in!

Grand Prize Winner:

Dev Mason – Savage San Salvador

Dev-Mason-photoDev Mason is an accomplished hip hop producer from San Jose, CA. Dev is not only just a songwriter and producer but also a self-proclaimed R&B Singer. His crafted sound design stood out for its original tones and unique melodies. “Savage San Salvador“ explores a down tempo beat that is just as much hip hop as it is soul. As orchestral elements fly through his trap like grooves, we can only imagine how epic all the autorap hooks and verses will be. Be sure to explore his full catalogue of instrumentals featured on Stunning work Dev!

As part of the Grand Prize, Dev Mason will be featured in one of Smule’s coolest app’s, AutoRap. He will additionally receive a 1-year Smule subscription to Sing! Karaoke, Magic Piano, and AutoRap.
