Wave Goodbye to 2013 with Open Labs

Wave Goodbye to 2013 with Open Labs

2013 came fast and furious with major breakthroughs in every major technological and entertainment sector. Open Labs was no exception – our growth this year was impressive and exhilarating. For one thing, although the official launch of StageLight was late 2012, the Easy Way to Create Music really came into its own this year. We spent the last 12 months improving the music creation app and introducing more tools and effects that could be utilized by Open Labs’ international creative customer base. We introduced new versions of StageLight, too – version 1.1 earlier in the year and more recently, version 1.2. KeyLock, the innovation that allows users to stay in the correct key when using the keyboard, our new in-app store and a new bevy of effects are some of our favorite StageLight highlights. We know the many StageLight users out there enjoy them, as well. In-app creations weren’t the only exciting bits of news from Open Labs this year. We rebuilt our website into a more user-friendly, dynamic web portal. We also expanded our artist relations with the creation of an Artist Community that has continued to grow. We are tracking the work of a wide range of geographically and genre-separated artists, which makes each day at Open Labs a bit more anticipatory. What new, StageLight-crafted work will the likes of Zayed Hassan, Prashant Mishra, Kev Bev Collins, LUBObe or all the others come up with next? And some of our bigger artist partners – namely Linkin Park – stepped it up big time in 2013. There was the Linkin Park – StageLight BitTorrent bundle, which packaged the...

Enter the Open Labs December Instagram Contest!

It’s that time again. Open Labs is marking the end of 2013 with another major contest, this time using our favorite photo social network, Instagram. Have you checked out Open Labs’ Instagram page? We’re adding multiple pictures, followers, friends and “likes” daily. It was only a matter of time before we took our use of the photo sharing app to the next level. Our December Instagram Contest will compile the best creator-submitted photos of artists using StageLight under the #StageLightcontest hashtag. The best photo, selected after a solid month of photo collecting, will be rewarded with a special 8-inch HD tablet that is pre-installed with Windows 8. We want to see as many different angles and interfaces of StageLight-in-use as possible! Artists who take part in the contest will be contacted by Open Labs the day their photo is posted. We’ll drop a link in the comments for where to go on our website to fill out the rest of the official entry information. It’ll be a quick questionnaire that’s designed to get contestant’s contact info (for shipping purposes should they win) and possibly some social media connection as well. An additional point; if the winner has music ready for consumption Open Labs will share it with the world! So the winner gets a tablet and a larger audience! Not to be unfair, of course – we’ll share some other contestant’s music if they allow. The great thing about this contest is that there is no real barrier for entry beyond using the #StageLightcontest hashtag. Open Labs will come to you as soon as that picture is up!...
It’s the Holidays at Open Labs!

It’s the Holidays at Open Labs!

This is going to be a short post, but Open Labs wanted to take the chance to wish every one of our followers are a happy holiday season. The cold weather has already descended upon Austin, and we’re sure our many fans from all over the globe are bundling up. That is, unless you are in the southern hemisphere, which would mean you’re enjoying summer right now. Open Labs needs to keep the location of its creatives in mind. Here in Austin, though, we are looking forward to the short work week and the gathering of food and families. Also, we’d be remiss if we didn’t point out the big college football game taking place on Thanksgiving between the University of Texas Longhorns and the Texas Tech Red Raiders. And, as always, the Cowboys will play on Thanksgiving day as well. They’re playing the Oakland Raiders. Then, of course, comes the gift giving holidays. Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa or something else, December leading into the new year should be a happy time to spend with loved ones. Remember, it’s better to give than receive. Also, you must recall that StageLight is as affordable a music creation app as is available right now. If the musicians you know use Windows systems, it makes a great stocking stuffer. Or it would, if it wasn’t non-tangible software. Just get the code and send them to www.openlabs.com. We’ll work it out for them. There are tons of great holiday events taking place in Austin, too. From the annual Zilker Park fun with the giant Christmas tree to the Trail of...

StageLight v1.2, the Latest Update in the Easy Way to Create Music, Releases Today

Open Labs keeps up a busy schedule, for sure. Today we announce the latest breakthrough in StageLight, the Easy Way to Create Music. StageLight v1.2, our new update for the super-accessible music composing/producing software, has officially dropped onto the market as of October 16th, 2013. The v1.2 innovations are some of the best StageLight has offered yet, as they make StageLight even more accessible and intuitive for creative users around the globe. As a young company with a new, game-changing product on our hands, Open Labs must keep up a steady release and update schedule so we stay ahead of the ever-roiling business trends and cultural movements. StageLight v1.2 represents another triumph for our continuing, ambitious marketing and production schedule. It is an update to be proud of, and one to be enjoyed. StageLight v.1.2’s new tools promise to be beloved staples of creatives. For instance, the new KeyLock feature allows users to fly all over the keyboard and still maintain the correct key. KeyLock takes the talent for melody creation and instills it into every person who uses StageLight, no matter if they have musical knowledge or not. By effectively banishing wrong notes from the interface, KeyLock’s activation removes another major music composition hurdle within the StageLight program. If you look at the StageLight v1.2 banner next to this paragraph, you will see what KeyLock looks like. The white-to-dark color coordinated keys will soon become as iconic an image associated with StageLight as our celebrated drum interface. Even for people who know how to play an instrument, KeyLock is a ton of fun. Advanced musicians can simply “turn...

Their recommendation would mean big things for the typical up-and-coming StageLight user. As many StageLight users are fans of the band, having a compositions championed by...
